The screening for dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) plays a key and essential role in securing treatments with fluoropyrimidines. In France, screening is primarily based on phenotyping: uracil blood level measurement, which serves as a key reference and allows for fine interpretation to adjust the initial dosage and limit the risk of side effects. Genotyping, an alternative already adopted in some countries, also offers promising perspectives.
