Collect on hydrochloric acid to achieve pH 2, urine acidification can be carried out within 24 hours after collection if stored at refrigerated temperature. Earlier acidification guarantees greater stability.
Diuresis is essential for interpreting the results.
The dosage of urinary metanephrines includes the dosage of normetanephrine, metanephrine and 3-methoxytyramine (or 3 (ortho) methyldopamine).
To limit any risk of analytical or pharmacodynamic interference, avoid taking drugs such as paracetamol, amoxicillin, urapidil, antidepressants, sympathomimetics, certain adrenergic inhibitors (labetalol / sotalol), dopaminergic derivatives and narcotics. Discontinuation of treatment, if clinically possible, is recommended (variable depending on the molecule, from 4 times the half-life). It should be noted that the measurement of urinary metanephrines is less affected by pharmacological interference.
A specific diet is not necessary.
