SCREENING FOR FETAL TRISOMY 21 : SERUM MARKERS CHANGE IN PREANALYTICAL CONDITIONS

Dear Colleague,

We inform you that the assays for serum markers for fetal trisomy 21 screening (in the 1st and 2nd trimesters) must now be performed on serum aliquoted into a drytube, prepared by your team.

Starting from July 18, 2024, and to ensure the best preanalytical conditions : samples with serum tubes containing a separating gel (not decanted) will no longer be accepted.

However, you can continue to collect samples from patients using a tube with gel, but it is imperative to centrifuge and decant it within 4 hours of collection to minimize potential interference with the free beta subunit of hCG (as recommended by  the analytical kit provider).

Please keep a second sample, frozen, within your serum bank.

For more details on prescription and transmission procedures, please refer to our online test catalog.
